Five-minute makeup!

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and lazy lazy lazy.  If it wasn't for the fact that I'm covering up bad pregnancy acne and uneven skin tone, I'd probably just go bare-faced and brave the public (it's Halloween tomorrow so I could just go as a scary pregnant lady). Lately these products have been my quick-face staples:

Nars primer, Estee Lauder Double Wear, Clinique Airbrush Concealer, Benefit Gimme Brow, Benefit High Brow, Benefit cream eyeshadow in Birthday Suit, Mac eyeshadow in Naked Lunch, Bobbi Brown blush in Blushed, Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder, Maybelline Falsies mascara.

Nearly 30 Weeks!

Image

How the h-e-double-hockey-stick am I going to be 30 weeks on Monday?  Time is flying by so quickly which is simultaneously the most exciting and the most frightening feeling.  I'm so anxious to meet this person who has been living and growing inside me.  Every day my mind is blown at the craziness that is pregnancy and the miracle of life that is in the works.

How far along? Nearly 30 Weeks
Baby is the size of: Almost a large cabbage...!??!
Total weight gain: 3ish pounds?
Gender: It’s a boy!
Name: We have a few contenders, but we really want to meet him before we pick his name.
Maternity Clothes: Yep.  And pajamas, although I did get dressed up this week for our maternity photos (see picture above-photo credit to the fabulous Meg Perotti!)
Stretch marks? A little one on my chest.
Sleep: Inconsistent.  :/
Movement: He's a pretty scheduled mover, which is fine by me!
Best moment this week: Maternity photos, late night conversations about parenting with Ben, cuddle sessions with Porter.
Miss Anything: Still can't wait to sleep on my back.  Also can't wait to not cry at the drop of a hat.
Belly button in or out? In, but gettttting shallow.
Food cravings: None this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Sometimes the little guy rolls around in utero in a way that makes me feel a little nauseated.
Symptoms: Still crazy emotional, general exhaustion from doing simple tasks.  :)
Wedding ring on or off? Off, to be safe.
Happy or Moody most of the time: All of the above!
Looking forward to: Officially starting the nursery and our baby shower coming up next week!  Oh, and of course, Halloween!

Easy Autumn Makeup Look

Autumn is finally upon us (or whatever autumn is here in Northern California).  Lot of pumpkin items at Trader Joe's, Halloween movies on ABC family, and that innate need to cozy up on the couch with hot chocolate and your dog (who am I kidding, I cuddle my dog all year long!)

My skin has been pretty crazy throughout this pregnancy (pregnancy acne for the win!), so I haven't been using my usual cooler weather foundations, but I'm loving my Estee Lauder Double Wear Light- a tiny tiny bit goes a long way and provides amazing coverage without feeling too cakey.

Here's what I used for the look:

Double Wear Light Foundation, Nars Creamy Concealer, Bobbi Brown blush in Blushed, Benefit Gimme Brows in Medium/Dark, Mac eyeshadow in All that Glitters, Lights, Camera, Lashes Tarte Mascara, One Heck of a Blot Powder, Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Plum Frost.

What are your favorite autumn makeup products?

P.S. Sorry for the weird close-ups--- still figuring out how to use my husband's Nikon camera!

P.P.S. I've gone back to my roots (dark hair, woot woot!)

27 Weeks!

Image

I cannot believe the third trimester started this week!  As cliche as it may sound, it seems like just yesterday we saw the positive sign on the pregnancy test.  In some ways I'm glad time is flying- I cannot wait to meet this little baby!  In other ways I'm scared that it's all becoming so real, so fast.  24 hour diaper duty and no sleep?  Can I handle it?!?

I saw this survey floating around and thought I'd use it to update my pregnancy progress.

How far along? 27 Weeks
Baby is the size of: A cauliflower
Total weight gain: 3 pounds?  I was overweight to begin with!
Gender: It’s a boy!
Name: We have a few contenders, but really want to meet him before we pick a name.
Maternity Clothes: I'm living in maternity jeans and comfy tops (when I decide to get out of pajamas, that is!)
Stretch marks? None yet.
Sleep: I'm starting to get a little restless with leg and back pain, but I'm making up for it with lots of naps.
Movement: If his out of utero behavior is anything like what I'm feeling throughout this pregnancy, then this is going to be one very mellow baby (like his daddy).  He moves infrequently but enough for me to not worry.  He loves to stretch the second I lie down- it's been fun to watch him move!
Best moment this week: A nice Italian dinner in Berkeley and great conversation with my husband.
Miss Anything: I cannot wait to sleep on my back and to have my non-giant boobs back.
Belly button in or out? In.
Food cravings: Chocolate.
Anything making you queasy or sick: So far so good.  Although the sight of chicken still puts me over the edge.
Symptoms: I'm an emotional roller coaster. My highs are high and my lows are low.  Ben is being amazing through it all!
Wedding ring on or off? Off, to be safe.
Happy or Moody most of the time: All of the above.  :)
Looking forward to: Getting started on the nursery, drinking wine!

Keira Knightley Inspired Makeup

Oh, Keira.  I loved you in "Pride and Prejudice", you wear pretty dresses to all of your premieres, and those brows are to die for.

"Vixen" Nail Polish by Revlon

ImageImage

Loving this nail polish color right now.  It's bold but not overpowering and would suit many skin tones.  The staying power is decent (I change my nail color weekly so I don't know if it would stay longer), cost is under $5, and it's such a pretty autumn color! I love the idea of pairing this nail color with a very neutral eye and nude lip.

DIY Weekend

DIY Weekend

With my husband off visiting his parents for the weekend, I decided to stay with my parents (a mere 20 minute drive away!) and be crafty. This whole pregnancy nesting thing really does happen!

My mom and I scoured Pinterest looking for a fun craft, and we came about some great soap-making recipes. Such a surprisingly easy process for a beautiful end result.

We ended up with Oatmeal/Lavender and Rosemary/Citrus Mint combinations - they smell so good!

Other than singing and doing makeup, I am pretty limited in my artistic abilities- both my mom and my sister are talented visual artists, and my "unique art" over the years has become a hilarious running joke- the fact that these soaps came out pretty was basically a miracle!

These little lovelies would make great gifts. Here are the sites we used for instructions:
